Leo Gassmann was born in Rome on November 22, 1998, into a family of artists and a demanding surname. At the age of 9 he entered the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and studied classical guitar and solfeggio for 5 years. At 19 he was selected to be one of the twelve contestants on "X Factor 12", reaching the semi-final and demonstrating singular talent in writing and voice. During his journey within the program, Leo had the opportunity to rewrite in Italian an unpublished song by Lewis Capaldi, entitled Piume, obtaining great response from the public. In 2020 he won the New Proposals category of the Sanremo Festival with the song Vai bene cose, confirming his skills as a singer-songwriter and great maturity and intensity of interpretation despite his young age. The video clip of Vai Bene Cosi, which to date boasts over 7.5 million views on YouTube, earned him the Roma Videoclip Sanremo Giovani 2020 Award received during the Rome Film Festival. This year he graduated in Art and Communication from John Cabot University in Rome.
After his debut album Strike, the young Roman singer-songwriter released the singles Down, My freedom and Monday (feat. L'Ennesimo). To date it has accumulated over 37 million total streams.
