SETHU

Marco De Lauri, known as Sethu, is an Artist born in Savona in 1997.

He develops his artistic identity together with his twin brother Jiz, with whom he begins to make music and take his first steps in the Ligurian punk/rap scene, to then expand towards ulterior musical horizons.  Strengthened by the union with Jiz, Sethu finds a way to escape from the outskirt reality of Savona in music, whose melancholic mood is often reflected in his lyrics and aesthetics.
Raw, dark, restless, euphoric: Sethu is a mysterious nocturnal animal who through his music talks about a generation that lives amidst uncertainties, anxieties and fears of the future.  Tired guys, abandoned to rhythm of the outskirts and boredom and who often fight for their sanity. 

 Sethu’s music mixes and alternates anger, sadness and euphoria, passing from intimate and introspective moments to frenetic and chaotic passages.  A mood that does not need to be labeled in a precise genre, converging in a fluid style and full of contaminations.  The first project officially released by the Artist in 2018 is the EP “SPERO TI RENDA TRISTE…” The project comes to life with the twins moving to Milan and contains 6 songs that highlight Sethu’s two dimensions which will then be the basis of the sound that he will develop in the years to come.  

In 2019, Sethu attracts the interest of insiders with the singles “BUTTERFLY KNIFE”, published on the Trash Gang channel, and “HOTSPOT” (ft. Lil Sadape) which go viral thanks to the “metal trap” character that distinguished the artist in that period.  It is included among the “CBCR” of the year by Rockit magazine.  In 2020, Sethu released 3 singles: “BLACKLIST”, “CALMO” and “PIOVERÁ PER SEMPRE”. The latest publication sees an opening of the artist’s path towards a more melodic Trap, alternating scream to the voice in a more pop perspective.  The tracks are included in the editorial playlists of Spotify “Raptopia” “Novità Rap Italiano”, “New Music Friday”, “Sangue giovane”, “Ragazzo Triste” (of which he was also on the cover) and “Generation Z”.  In the first year of the Covid epidemic, Sethu sees the two performances at Mi Ami and Nameless cancelled. 

2021 and 2022 are years in which several featurings are published: Sethu collaborates, among others with Don Said, ISIDE, Wako, Anzij and Claudym.  With the latter he opens the concerts of the Pinguini Tattici Nucleari at Forum D’Assago and Willie Peyote in Milan.  This feat has contributed to define a progressive definition and evolution of his melodic side.  

In 2022, Sethu signs with Carosello Records and releases the new single: “GIRO DI NOTTE”.  The track enters all the most important editorial playlists of Spotify (“new music Friday”, “novità rap”, “generazione z”, “graffiti pop” and “sangue giovane” dove appare anche nella copertina della playlist).  MTV Italia lo sceglie come Artista

Nel 2022 Sethu signs with Carosello Records and releases the new single “GIRO DI NOTTE”. The song enters into the important editorial Sportify playlists (“new music Friday”, “novità rap”, “generazione z”, “graffiti pop” e “sanguegiovane” where he also appers on the cover of the playlist). MTV Italia chooses him as Artist of the monthin September, while he is invited to perform at the PLUG MI event together with other artists of the Italian urban scene such as Shiva and Rhove. In December, he participates at Sanremo Giovani Festival with the song “SOTTOTERRA”.  Sethu reaches the finals and is one of the six finalists of the competition, gaining access to the Sanremo Festival 2023 in the BIG category with the song “CAUSE PERSE”, a song dedicated to the relationship with his inseparable twin brother Jiz.
